Students admitted into the Engineering program directly from secondary school will take the foundation year curriculum. It is designed to prepare all first-year engineering students with a strong knowledge base for a solid and rewarding professional career.
Vantage One engineering
For international students, UBC Vantage College offers a unique first-year university program called Vantage One. The program combines one year of academic degree-focused credits with intensive academic English preparation.
2nd Year Placement
By the end of year one, students apply for one of the 14 engineering programs available, and will begin in second year. Students are encouraged to explore their options by visiting the open houses, reading through department pages, and doing some research of their own.
UBC Engineering provides students with opportunities to network with employers, gain paid work experience, and hone their professional skills. Options include the Co-op Program, Coordinated International Experience and Go Global.
UBC Engineering offers unique professional graduate programs (MEL, MEng) that aim to equip students with advanced field-specific technical knowledge. These programs help students become more specialized in an area and take their careers to the next level.
Thesis-based Research Programs
UBC Engineering offers thesis-based research programs (MASc, PhD) that are designed for engineers wishing to pursue further research.
