The School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME) invites students in high school, along with their families, to visit the recently opened Gordon B. Shrum Building for the SBME High School Open House.  

The SBME High School Open House will be held on Saturday November 22, 2025 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. 

What to expect: 

  • Explore the future of Biomedical Engineering - discover how technology and innovation are transforming health care. 

  • Experience the new Gordon B. Shrum Biomedical Engineering Building - Canada’s first purpose-built home for biomedical engineering education and research. 

  • Step inside our state-of-the-art teaching labs -watch live demonstrations and see where ideas turn into real-world medical solutions. 

  • Connect with SBME students and faculty - hear their stories, ask questions, and learn what it’s like to study and innovate at UBC. 

  • Join the SBME Scavenger Hunt - explore the building, uncover clues, and take home exclusive SBME swag!
