2025/26 Killam teaching awards recognize UBC Applied Science faculty and grad students
UBC Applied Science is well-represented among the winners of the 2025/26 Killam Teaching Prize and Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award.
The recipients of the Killam Teaching Prize are nominated by students, colleagues, and alumni in recognition of their excellence in teaching. This year's Applied Science recipients are:
- S. Alireza Bagherzadeh, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering
- Gabrielle Lam, School of Biomedical Engineering
- Heather Trajano, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering
The Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award recognizes graduate students who have made outstanding contributions to teaching and learning. Three Applied Science students were among the recipients:
- Shams Al-Anzi, School of Nursing
- Genevieve Bonnor, School of Biomedical Engineering
- Ebrahim Pasbanian, Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Killam Teaching Prize and Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award are two of seven Killam awards and fellowships available at UBC. Established in 1965, the Killam Trusts have awarded 8,400 scholarships and fellowships at five research institutions across Canada.
