Students celebrate a design competition victory

Admission to engineering is competitive. Every year, we receive applications from more students than we can accommodate, which means we must restrict enrolment.

Applicants to UBC Engineering are evaluated on a broad range of criteria. And while we are looking for academically strong students, we also want to know if you possess additional attributes that will contribute to your success as a student.

Entry routes into UBC Engineering

Students who have completed one or more years of study at UBC or another post-secondary institution may apply to transfer to UBC Engineering. Students with enough transfer credits may qualify for advanced standing. Several community colleges in BC offer Engineering Transfer Programs corresponding to UBC’s first-year Engineering program.

Deadlines & Cost

The deadline to apply for the Winter Session is January 15.  The deadline for the submission of supporting documentation will vary depending on the applicant's academic history.  This information will be communicated to you once you apply.
