Two UBC profs honoured by Engineering Institute of Canada
UBC civil engineering professor Dharma Wijewickreme, an internationally recognized expert in earthquake and pipeline engineering, has been awarded the 2022 John B. Stirling Medal by the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC).
Established in 1987, the annual award aims to recognize "leadership and distinguished service at the national level within the Institute and/or its Constituent Societies." For more information, please see the announcement on the website of the UBC Department of Civil Engineering.
The institute has also inducted Dr. Rehan Sadiq, executive associate dean at the UBC School of Engineering and a leading civil and environmental engineering researcher, as one of 20 new EIC fellows.
Since 1963, distinguished engineers in Canada have been elected EIC fellows "in recognition of their excellence in engineering and their services to the profession and to society." More information is available on the website of the UBC School of Engineering.
The 2022 awards, as well as the 2021 and 2020 awards, are scheduled to be presented at the next EIC Gala/Banquet in Gatineau/Ottawa on April 30, 2022.
