CIHR funds UBC engineering research on spinal injuries, more effective vaccines
Eight engineering research projects led or co-led by UBC researchers are being awarded more than $3.2 million through the Canadian Institutes of Health Researcher (CIHR) Project Grants: Fall 2022 competition.
The Project Grant program is designed to “capture ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes.”
Funded UBC engineering research projects range from looking at how the head and neck move in vehicle rollover crashes and contribute to cervical spinal injuries, to developing the next generation of mRNA vaccines that will ultimately be more effective and have longer-lasting immunity.
A total of 67 projects led by UBC researchers were awarded more than $30 million in combined funding through the CIHR Awards (full list of recipients).
