APSC students win big at 2018 Western Engineering Competition
UBC engineering students have won first place in the programming category and second place in the reengineering category at the Western Engineering Competition (WEC), the largest engineering competition for undergraduates in Canada. Other UBC teams came third in the junior and senior design categories.
New SCARP director announced
Heather Campbell, a professor of Town and Regional Planning and an advisor in the Office of the Vice Chancellor at the University of Sheffield, has been named the new director of UBC's School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP). Her five-year appointment will begin on September 1, 2018.
Two APSC profs awarded top UBC research prize
Two APSC faculty members — Colleen Varcoe, a professor in the School of Nursing, and David Wilkinson, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering — have received the UBC Killam Research Prize in recognition of their “outstanding research and scholarly contributions.”
