The Fellows' initiatives are supported by 3M Canada, the Society of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE), and the Council of Fellows, a constituent group within STLHE.
Potvin’s work lies in engineering pedagogy and curriculum development, with a particular interest in problem-based learning and interdisciplinary education. He has a background in bioprocessing and industrial microbiology, and has experience in microalgal biotechnology and sustainable engineering.
Potvin has been the recipient of the annual Best Teacher Award by students in his department every year since 2015. In 2024, he was awarded the Medal for Distinction in Engineering Education from Engineers Canada, which recognizes an engineer who has demonstrated exemplary contributions to the education of engineering students. He was also a recipient of the 2021 Killam Teaching Prize, which recognizes scholars who have contributed, or are likely to contribute, to the advancement of learning or to win distinction in a profession.
