Job: Commercial Account Executive at Vention
Tell us about your job at Vention.
Vention is a manufacturing automation company based in Quebec. I work as a sales commercial account executive out of their Berlin office, working with our clients to provide them with the solutions they need for anything to do with robotics and manufacturing automation. Our clients range from small startups to major aerospace and automotive companies. We sell a complete suite of products and systems, from workstations and industrial carts to collaborative robots and engineering systems.
This job is great for me. I did mechanical engineering at UBC, so I have the technical background that enables me to talk with our clients about their issues, and I love working in sales.

What do you like about your job?
It’s never the same thing twice. I’m a very competitive person, and sales are like a sport to me. It’s a really fast-paced and engaging environment.
With my technical background, I can be relatively autonomous, but there’s also a lot of collaboration to get to the desired end result.
I also really like working for a Canadian company – Canadian culture is great and the people are super friendly.
How did you end up at UBC?
I’m from France, and UBC appealed because of its high international rankings. My first year was tough, but after that it was unbelievable. While I initially had wanted to study at the Vancouver campus, I loved being at UBC Okanagan for all the nature and outdoor activities that are right there – fly-fishing, mountain biking, hiking, you name it. I’d love to go back. Being at UBC was the best five years of my life.
