Whether it is tailoring your academic options, gaining international experiences, securing work experience, or getting involved in activities outside of the classroom, there are so many opportunities for our students.

Student clubs

Get involved in student government as early as their first-year by volunteering or participating in events hosted by the EUS. Ex-officio clubs allow students the opportunity to connect with others from any department of UBC Engineering in a meaningful way that impacts them. Additional opportunities include the over 350 campus-wide clubs.

Join one of over 30 competitive design teams and develop skills employers are looking for — teamwork, design skills, problem-solving and creativity — all while having the opportunity to compete internationally.

Minors + options

Customize your degree by completing a minor, Dual Degree in Arts or an available option in your engineering discipline. Minors are available in Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Arts, Science or Honours Math at the Vancouver campus. A Pre-Med Alternative Pathway is available to students interested in medical school.

Get a competitive edge before you graduate as you network with employers, gain paid work experience and hone your professional skills in the UBC Applied Science Co-op Program. Other work experience opportunities include Work Learn, a part-time on campus work program, and research experiences.

International experience

Many opportunities are available for students to gain international experience. Whether attending one of our partner engineering institutions through the Coordinated International Experience, completing research abroad or attending a global seminar there are so many ways to add an international experience to your degree.
